THE SECRET At Work

I just want to share with you all that I just cannot believe my luck! But then again, I believed it subconsciously so now it's happening!

Yesterday, I went to a New York City showroom to do some "work" for a friend. Guess what! Not only did I get to see how a New York City showroom looks like (although I've been to a contemporary fashion label's showroom at the Meatpacking District, this particular one carries various labels) I got invites to go to real, authentic New York City trade shows, which happen right after NY Fashion Week!!! This is where the buyers go to showrooms to choose the pieces that they will sell for next season! Stuff that I only read about in Fashion Babylon!!! Yippee!!!

Really, when I buzzed the showroom's front door, I just thought I was in for a quick meeting. But after a warm greeting from the showroom intern and a bottle of cold mineral water handed to me, I sat on an antique upholstered bench and found myself surrounded by well-made, practically engineered articles of clothing, roomy bags made out of exotic skins and French baubles made of precious metals and semi-precious stones! After meeting with the showroom owner, I quickly reported back to my friend, and next thing I know I have to "give up" my Saturday morning to go watch the big shots at "work"! Hey, it's a tough job, but someone's got to do it! Hehehe!

I don't mean to sound crazy, but writing about stuff that I want to do or buy and sharing these with all of you here truly works! Promise! After nurturing the idea in my head, and writing it down in stone, it just begins to concretize! Imagine, a couple of days back, I wrote about NY Fashion Week, and now I get to be in the center of the buying scene! Where all the moneymaking happens! Now that's better than the runway shows right?

So can I just tell you that I would like go back to school by Fall 2008 and I know that I will get accepted into the program I applied for! With God's blessing, I WILL!

New York Minute

After how many months of talking about buying a camera, Dear Hubby finally bought the D80 of his dreams! Yeah, I convinced him that he has to stop talking and start doing! Now that he spent so much money, shopping for me is justified! Hehehe!

Anyway, I just wanted to share with you some photos taken by my budding photographer...




Ooh, and guess who we saw live at Union Square Greenmarket! Joseph Ades, aka Carrot Man/ Mr. Peeler Man/The Gentleman Grafter! He's a New York City institution who was featured by The Sartorialist and by Vanity Fair (I'm talking five page spread here)! My first brush with a New York City "celebrity" woohoo!




Yes, Mr. Ades sells peelers wearing custom made suits, and with a British accent too! But this guy has no stiff upper lip that's for sure! A crowd quickly gathered around him and I have to admit, I've never been this entertained watching someone sell peelers on the street!

Now that Mr. Sartorialist is busy shooting abroad, I would suggest that he hurry back home. My DH said he'll be out shooting every weekend around the city. Looks like DH is out to claim TS' throne! Hehehe!

What Spring Brings

Yesterday, Dear Hubby and I took a stroll along 5th Avenue but with the shopping ban in full force, all I could do was check out shop window displays. Teehee!

It's easy to see that Spring colors are brighter than ever! Window displays are bursting with sunshine yellows, apple reds, cheeky pinks and leafy greens...Check it out and tell me how it makes you want to bite them good!

Jovovich-Hawk for Target

The Jovovich-Hawk collection for Target is set for release on March 2! That's about a month from now! How exciting!

I've scanned the pages of my March issue of Teen Vogue and am posting a clip from Sally Jane Vintage to give you all a sneak peek from the collection. So here it is without further ado...(Bwahaha! Baduy! Where have I heard this before? I think this was how hosts in the 80s, uhhhm Kuya Germs & Co. if I'm not mistaken, presented their guests right?)







So what do you all think? I'm sure the girly girls are palpitating with excitement right about now. I wouldn't blame you though, these are quite pretty. Just a reminder though, don't expect designer quality fabrics ok? I want to keep your expectations within reasonable bounds! But hey I'm no party pooper, if you've always wanted Jovovich-Hawk pieces but couldn't afford it then, by all means indulge!

Isabel Marant S/S 2008

NY Fashion Week F/W 2008 has started, but we have a couple of months to go before discussions about the collections will come in handy, so let's just talk about spring shall we?

But before that, I'd like to show you an outfit I've put together, as a couple of you dear readers have suggested that I wear colorful tights. I wore the same clothes as before, but played around with my accessories to create a totally different look...

As much I had fun putting it together, I still can't help but lean towards neutrals. I think I am more in my element wearing something like this...

Ok back to regular programming...I just thought I 'd share with you a couple of my favorite looks from Isabel Marant's S/S 2008 collection! I just love her clothes and I wish I can dress like this everyday!








From the looks of it, the shemagh scarf isn't going anywhere! Then again, it has never really gone away and has in fact resurrected as tops and dresses! Quite staunch (as Little Edie Beale would say!)
