MFO Gift Guide: One Earth Organics

If I told you that you can give yourself or a loved one the gift of light and smooth underarms and it's no joke, you better believe it. Because we are talking about the highway out of armpit hell.

I met Tyff Short and her partners Ria Olonan and Cha Diaz a few weeks back and loved the story of how they started.

Ria, myself, Cha and Tyff

It all began many years back when Tyff had gotten so self-conscious about her underarms that she couldn't even raise her arms. She had tried all the commercially available products in grocery store shelves but nothing worked for her.

So she developed her a line of underarm products with the help of friends, a natural deodorant, whitening cream and underarm moisturizer which over a course of time, finally solved her underarm darkness, chicken skin and sweatiness. She realized she was on to something and decided to invest her son's tuition fee, the only money she had saved in the bank, to fund her business venture.

She started selling them in bazaars where it quickly gained a cult-following and that was the beginning of One Earth Organics, a homegrown line of FDA-approved organic and plant-based beauty products.

Apart from the best selling Antibac Whitening Deo Spray, One Earth Organics also makes plant-based moisturizers, body scrubs and masks

Her initial foray into underarm products simply spread by word-of-mouth because it has helped a lot of women, especially young girls undergoing puberty to no longer worry about or be ashamed of their underarm issues.

She has since branched out to acne and whitening products as well as soaps and oil serums.

Clarifying, Restorative, Milk and Facial soaps by One Earth Organics

This Rosehip Oil Serum is meant to repair and rejuvenate the skin

The scents are pleasant and the moisturizers don't leave a greasy afterfeel

The full line of One Earth Organics products are now available at select Beauty Bar stores such as Shangri-la Plaza, Rockwell Power Plant, Century City Mall, Glorietta, Central Square in BGC, Robinsons Magnolia and Midtown, Lucky Chinatown Mall and Ayala Cebu.

and online at www.beautybar.com.ph as well as www.beautymnl.com.

P.S. I have been using One Earth Organics Antibac Whitening Deo Spray since I discovered it in August and I would definitely continue to buy it from hereon. I'm trying out the Miracle Light Advanced Whitening Serum for the brown spots on my face (I refuse to call it age spots haha) and have yet to see results but will be happy to share about it once I can vouch for it.

Shop SSI Stores, Online!

Back when I was in high school and college, my favorite place above all was the mall. Ahihi.

So, you can just imagine what online shopping has done to my life. It has brought temptation right to my doorstep. Eeep!

I mostly shop US online stores, and a few homegrown sites like Chicify, Elin, Seek the Uniq, Ava, Taste Central and such. But I've found another locally based online store to add to the list - www.ssilife.com.ph, and it's not just any online store.

It's like an online mall of SSI brands!

Crazy good right?

Of course, I shopped it already. Bought a tea scoop, the crowd-pleasing TWG Silver Moon tea to serve to guests at home, a bottle of balsamic vinegar and a stainless steel funnel from O & Co., and of course, my ever trusted K-Palette eyebrow liner from Beauty Bar.

Buying is so easy. As with the typical online store, I just registered to create an account, browsed the site (they do need to add more brands and products to the merchandise mix), added my choices to cart, checked out, inputted all pertinent information, paid and received an order confirmation. That's it!

In two days, I received this well packed box...

So well packed, all the items were individually bubble wrapped inside.

And when I opened each one, each was so pristine, it was like I shopped and chose the items with care myself. Love, love, love.

With most of the SSI brands under the ssilife.com.ph umbrella, customers have the option to purchase online, or browse online and purchase offline in stores.

Says Anton Huang, President of SSI Group, Inc., "We are the only e-commerce participant that is able to implement an omni-channel apporach, where are bricks and mortar will complement the online shopping experience of our customers and vice versa".

In this day and age where "customer experience" happens to be the retail buzzword, SSI is definitely on the right track, with a digital shopping experience like no other. Especially as there are more SSI brands to be added in the following months.

MFO's Verdict On: Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil

The Product: Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil

The pencil is a nuetral taupe color that blends just as well into blonde hair as it does very dark brunette hair. The proof is in the sales, BDB has sold ten of thousands of these pencils with a 1% return rate.

The Promise: No More Guessing Games!

Formulated to work with all skin tones & hair colors, this amazing pencil goes on smooth and natural. Perfect for creating beautiful, natural brows whether you are a blonde or a brunette. This mechanical pencil always stays sharp and requires no pencil sharpener.

retractable pencil means no need for sharpening, comes with the built-in brush

Put to the Test: I used to not get the fuss about brows. Then again, I cannot groom my brows even if my life depended on it, so it was like a default mechanism that I just did not care about how my brows looked.

Don't get me wrong. I tried to do something about it. I've tried on pencil fillers and powder fillers but they looked so unnatural and cartoon-ish, I decided I would rather go without.

But then! My friend Eliza aka The Painter's Wife suggested I try Billion Dollar Brows at Beauty Bar and so I did.

I have only used it a total of three times, and considering that a ten year old probably does a better job at putting makeup than me, it's remarkably easy to use.

See Billion Dollar Brows on the left, and my natural, untamed brows on the right. See the difference?

BDB to the left, natural brows to the right

Passing the Verdict: It's a good and solid, BUY!

Practical Tip: For darker skin tones and hair colors, apply pencil until you’ve reached the desired shade. Use less pencil for lighter skin tones and hair colors. Blend using the brush end of the pencil.

The pencil is water-resistant so no worries about losing your brows when caught in a downpour. And yes, you can even wear it to work out, if you want to.

With everyday use, the pencil should last about 3 months.

Price: Php850 but currently on sale at Beauty Bar for Php722.50

Point of Sale: Beauty Bar and online via the Billion Dollar Brows website.

Shop Online at Beauty Bar + Billion Dollar Brows

Just in case you did not know, you can now shop Beauty Bar online.

When you wake up at 1 am realizing, "OMG, I'm about to run out of mascara!", you can just go to http://shop.beautybar.com.ph/ and shop like it's nobody's business but your own. After all, it's your lashes, not theirs.

If you don't have a credit card, or you simply don't want to do business online because you're old fashioned like dut, then opt for the "Pay and Pick Up at Store" option. Yu-huh, there is such a thing. Convenient na din, if you like it the brick and mortar kind of way.

Take note though that the item you order will be available to pick up at your preferred Beauty Bar store on the 3rd business day from the day you placed your order. All the T&C's are here:

By the way, have your heard of Billion Dollar Brows? My friend Eliza aka The Painter's Wife, tipped me off on this wonder product. I've always been one of those scraggly kilay girls because I cannot groom my own brows for the life of me. I asked for her advice and she told me to buy BDB from Beauty Bar. So, I did. OMG. Life changing!

It's perfect for people of all skin tones and hair colors, because it's a universal brow filler. Go easy if you want it light, put more if you want to go dark.

For the first time in my life, somebody made bati to my kilay the first time I used this. My kilay! Imagine that.

I felt like a billion bucks!
