Pink Berry

Gingham top from Levi's Girls from Aunt Melissa of Levi's, pink denims from Joe Fresh,
gold mary janes from Tip Toey Joey

Berry's favorite color is pink, and so it was not a surprise when she thought of putting this outfit together. I would not have dared for her to go all pink, but she styles herself now, and decided this top and jeans should go together, and it looked cute!

UPDATE: For those asking where to buy Berry's Tip Toey Joeys, these are available at Baby & Beyond, G2 Strata Suites 300, P. Guevarra Street, San Juan

Nostalgia: Alexander Wang + Emee + Madewell in SoHo

When I read that Alexander Wang finally opened his flagship store in SoHo last Thursday, I remembered taking a picture of it while it was still under construction. So I started going through old folders until I finally found them:

The store occupies a whole block on Grand Street, and was once a Yohji Yamamoto boutique.

Wang tells WWD he wants the store to serve as a laboratory of sorts, the place to test drive experimental designs.

"There will be exclusives, starting with a five-piece capsule collection in leather: two jackets, a vest, a dress and a top. 'This is a place where we can do really special pieces that stores might not want to take risks on,' said Wang."

Sigh, how time flies! And wow, I really miss SoHo. I think a bulk of my life in NY was spent there, really. All my favorite shops were there and my favorite labels always seem to gravitate towards that little spot of the city. As much as how dreamy it is to have an uptown existence (imagine being a Park Avenue Princess!), I guess I really am a downtown girl through and through.

Another one of my favorite spots in SoHo is Emee Foussard's showroom. That afternoon, when we dropped by to say hello, they just so happened to be unpacking samples from a shoe line from South America and Berry took out this open toe bootie that matched her outfit from Splendid (a gift from Emee too!)...

We were laughing at how this over the knee boot was just as tall as Berry, hahaha!

After we said bye, Berry and I hopped over to Madewell where I went looking for Alexa Chung's pieces. I managed to take this outfit shot. But didn't get to buy the top I wanted because they sold out so fast in my size! I ended up with a white silk shirt with front pockets, super cute! I haven't worn them yet though! Gasp!

Shirt: +J Uniqlo, Jeans: Levi's Curve ID, Belt: Zara, Shoes: Toms

I kinda miss these sort of days. When you are in New York, you really feel like the world is moving, there's a sense of excitement in the air, there's always something to check out or look forward to, even if it's as trivial as a store opening or a new collection out in stores. Heehee.

Asstastic! Levi's Curve ID

Have you seen the movie Couples Retreat? There's that scene there where Jason Bateman breaks into Vince Vaughn's home, which triggers the alarm, and Vince had to  tell the security alarm guy his password - "Asstastic". I was thinking, how does one come up with such a nonsensical word and where the hell does one use that?! Well, now I know.

Last Thursday, I went to SoHo to attend the launch of Levi's Curve ID at the Levi's store on Broadway, upon the invitation of Melissa Ladines-Mejia, women's publicity manager for Levi's.

And that's where it dawned on me, if you want your ass to look fantastic, then Levi's Curve ID jeans is what's asstastic! Thanks to Levi's they just changed the way us girls shop for jeans. Curve ID focuses on shape, not size. So instead of just going, ok, I want dark blue skinny jeans, size 25, you get to choose a fit that suits your body type. So you're either a slight curve, demi curve or bold curve:

Apparently, these three fits were developed after Levi’s studied more than 60,000 body scans and spoke with women around the world of all shapes and sizes.

So yeah, these three gorgeous models here, they all look great right? But each one is wearing a Curve ID jean that best suits her body type!

So anyhoo, with a DJ blasting out music and cups of Pinkberry circulating about...

Maggie, my fit specialist, educated me on Curve ID's unique fit system:

So here's how we figure out which fit suits us best. Basically, a string with two tape measures dangling on the sides, is tied around our waist:

Maggie measured my first hip, as well as my second hip, and just like that, she declared I was a demi curve!

She asked me if I wanted straight, skinny or bootcut, and I decided on some skinny jeans. She then led me to this wall of denims! All skinny demi curves! I felt like a kid in a candy store! So many washes, I had a hard time figuring out which one I wanted!

Since I have a ton of blue denims, I went for a gray one, and just when I was a tad bit disappointed that the inseam was 34", which meant I had to have it hemmed, Maggie immediately handed a 25x30" to me! Amazing! She then said that they do have demi curve skinnies in 24" but they were only available online. I then headed off to the fitting room, where a mountain of denims sat on a table:

After a 10 minute wait, with a line 5 people deep, I got into a fitting room and et voila!

Flatters and perfects!

The 25 skinny demi curves didn't fit like skinny skinny jeans that cling to the legs like second skin, but I loved this fit! It was snug around the hips and didn't gap at the waist. And I liked it that they just slightly skimmed into a slim silhoutte. Not to mention, the gray color is just so perfect!

I may have missed out on the cupcakes served that evening, but the great music, Pinkberry, and a great pair of well fitting denims courtesy of Levi's was more than I could ever ask for! Thanks Melissa!  And it was great meeting you too Mason! I should have brought Berry with me! (Mason is just one day older than Berry! How cute is that?!)

Girls (sorry guys, no Curve ID for you yet!) it's been a while since I've worn Levi's and thanks to Curve ID, Levi's is all I've been wearing since I got my demi curves! If you want to find out more about which fit suits your shape, go to your nearest Levi's store and get a fit specialist to find the perfect one for you!

If you've given up on wearing denims because you never seem to find one that flatters, remember in Curve IDs...

Berry Goes Out For A Walk + Thank You Time 4

My grandparents have been so gung-ho on taking me out for a walk because they've seen a lot of babies being paraded on the boardwalk by their parents/grandparents/nannies and they wanted in on the action. So last Monday, they finally got their wish...

Here I am with my Mom (aka The Milk Machine, they, on the other hand, call me The Cheese Factory because they say my neck smells like blue cheese, thanks to all that milk hiding under my folds of fat!) and Lala. Three generations all in a row...

I would like to thank Aunt Joni of Rootote for sending Mom & I the tote bag above! It really is very useful for short trips out. Very light with lots of pockets for Mom's camera and cellphone, with enough room for her wallet, my nappies, milk, blankie and other essentials!

Here'a a close-up shot. See how cute the bag is? We love the color too!

Oh! And thanks Aunt Janice, Uncle Wilbs and Audrey for this cutie floral dress from Gap! And Tita Melissa for my Baby Levi's socks! They fit me now!

Here's a better shot of my dress! Mom took this photo after changing my nappy! Heehee!

I've also worn the yellow sundress you sent with my pink & brown dress Aunt Janice! Mom made me wear a cardigan over it because it was cold inside the Japanese grocery we went to!

Oh! And I just want to share something funny with all of you! Mom brought along a bottle of breastmilk for me. But when she had to warm it, they couldn't find hot water anywhere. Guess what we used instead?

Hot green tea! Heehee!

Love,

Berry =)

Levi's FW09 Press Preview

A few weeks ago, I was invited to the FW09 press preview by the pretty and preggy Melissa Ladines Mejia of Levi's Women's Publicity here in New York. It was great meeting a fellow Filipina (although she grew up here) and it was very sweet of her to invite me to the press event, so we can all see what's in store for the coming season. At the rate we're going FW08 hasn't really left the East Coast yet so these looks are still very much season appropriate! (Although it's getting warmer this weekend, let's see if winter will spring a surprise attack yet again!) Then again, when did jeans ever go out of fashion? Never!

They had all of FW09's jeans out for the press to check out and give them an idea of what to pull-out and feature!

There were models and mannequins to show us how to put it all together...

Looks like the silhouettes (boyfriend, skinny, etc) and washes (dark, destroyed, acid wash, etc) that are hot now are still going to stick around till next season! Thank goodness for that!
