I swear, Bonpoint is too chic for words. Scary that Berry will soon be going to a play school with Bonpoint just a few floors down. I haven't been shopping in a long time, but that may just change when I see stuff for Berry on sale. Yes, I told the SA to SMS me as soon as they mark down items, LOL.

Truffles and More
Whole Black Summer Truffles (Php1,500/ 1.4 oz) - puree, mince or slice them over
pastas, omelettes and risottos, or spread a puree onto sandwiches.
When I was maybe ten, my mom bought me a book where I read how pigs sniff out truffles. I remember it was a fun and funny book, because there was an illustration of a pig wearing a beret, looking for truffles. I know a beret! I get the reference, wasn't it French food connoisseur Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin who called truffles "the diamond of the kitchen"? Then again, like diamonds, truffles are insanely expensive. Get this, Casino King Stanley Ho, who probably has a predilection for truffles, has paid over $300,000 for about a kilo of truffles. Not just once, but twice.
But since we all don't have casino empires for cash cows, you might want to check out Cecille Capistrano-Poblador's truffle enterprise, Truffles & More.
Cecile imports truffle products from Rome and the US and distributes them in the Philippines. According to Cecile,
"These truffle products enable both the chef and home cook to experience the unique truffle flavor without having to splurge on buying fresh truffles.

They may not make you swoon quite as dramatically as a whole specimen will, but a small sprinkle of this highly aromatic mixture of sea salt and small chunks of black truffle or this luxurious blend of honey and truffle can really perk up any dish, or at least add a hint of near illicit decadence to any meal."
Sounds divine to me! Here are some of the truffle & olive products that Truffles & More brings in. You might want to get these for your pantry. Consider it a sprinkling of diamond dust in your kitchen!
White Truffle Oil (Php 950/ 100 ml) - a few drops to make a rich enhancement to the flavor of
salad and pasta. Makes pizza taste a whole lot better.
Truffle Salt 3.4 oz (Php 1,250/ 3.4 oz)- feel free to use this anywhere a recipe calls for salt. You can sprinkle it on top of almost anything. Turns omelettes into a decadent dish.
Truffle Tagliatelle (Php 1,100/ 8.8 oz) & Black Truffle Sauce (Php 1,100/ 3.2 oz) - an elegant main course in minutes. Serves 3 to 4 people. Black Truffle Oil (Php 850/ 100 ml)
Black Olive & Green Olive Tapenade (Php 550/ 8.8oz) - best on warm focaccia or toasted slices of baguette, spread in a very thin layer. It is also terrific on sandwiches. Spread it on the inside of the bread before you make a grilled cheese (best w/cheddar) or a fresh mozzarella and tomato sandwich. It's also a good dip for baby carrots or just about anything else.
Cecille particularly recommends the truffle salt and oil for eggs, steak and popcorn -- she says the bottle goes a long way as you don't need much, and the truffle honey for entertaining (served with a cheese platter or drizzled on top of toasted bread with goat cheese). The thought of these alone already puts me in a truffle tizzy. Yum!

Wee+Mutsi
If you are looking for something different to get for the little ones in your life, you might want to check out Wee + Mutsi.
Wee + Mutsi is a repository of innovative products for babies, kids and yes, even moms (after all, when our kids are happy, doesn't that make our lives so much easier?). Their products are sourced from the US, Europe, China and Australia. According to Boom Ty-Domingo, the entrepreneurial mom behind W + M, "The thrust of our company is to bring in stuff that are hard to find in Manila and be the first ones to introduce them in the market."
Here are some of the items she has brought in to the Philippines, that you might want to get for the kiddos:
Scrunch-bucket from the UK. I think this is not just for summer, but a year round staple, I can imagine Berry using this in the pool, or while taking a bath at home. Perfect for water babies!
Playmat from Sugar Booger. I think this will especially come in handy to place under easels, or even under a high chair, to catch food falling off the tray or table.
Most strollers and car seats do not come with adequate neck support.
Benbat Travel Friends is the answer!
I find that reusable totes can double as diaper bags. Seriously. These are light weight and can store so many baby things! If you want a reusable tote that is more like a hobo bag,
you might want to try flip & tumble.

To learn more about Wee + Mutsi, check out their Facebook page Wee + Mutsi. You may also find them at baby/mommy bazaars around Metro Manila.
Visit and browse through their items, they will be happy to answer any questions and concerns you may have. Boom says they are always willing to explain what products are really for, and share other tips you might find useful. That's almost like being part of a mommy support group, but with shopping involved!
