Mompreneur Summit 2013

Calling all entrepreneurs and aspiring mompreneurs!

Want to have a productive Saturday? I would recommend that you check out Mompreneur Manila's 2nd Mompreneur Summit, happening at the Blue Leaf Events Pavilion at McKinley Hill in Bonifacio Global City this Saturday, September 14, 2013.

The theme this year is Passion and Purpose, which aims to encourage and inspire mompreneurs to create and establish businesses created for a cause and founded with heart. These two driving forces are the keys behind every successful business—both of which are values innate to every mompreneur.

The summit aims to help mompreneurs develop these values, helping them re-discover the passion to achieve something on top of being an active mom and successful homemaker, and uncover a greater purpose and a deeper, more meaningful motivational drive in finding fulfillment in their businesses through its impact on other people’s lives.

If you want to discover and further develop your passion and also find purpose in your trade, this is for you. Featuring a workshop on finding the meaning behind one’s business, this year’s summit will discuss points that go above and beyond entrepreneurial success.

MFO x googoo&gaga x Wooden Canvas Giveaway!

Here's a giveaway like no other! My friend Audrey of googoo&gaga is holding her first ever blog giveaway here at MFO, and to make it more than just the usual product giveaway, we're giving away something we are pretty sure you don't have yet - 2 Wooden Canvas prints! One is a googoo&gaga print, the other one is a print of your choice (can be a family photo, kid photo, a scenic photo of your fave vacation spot, or art that you like). Sounds interesting?

Here's the background story:

Audrey shares, "In March, we tied up with Wooden Canvas to have our prints done on wood. We've been looking to make wall prints for a while. I even had some done on canvas last year just to test. But I wasn't satisfied with the quality. Plus canvas wall prints are common na. You know how we always want to find ways to be different."

The result of this experiment is something like these:

Don't these make great gifts? Or something different and special to decorate your room with? Let's cut to the chase, join na!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

The winner will receive 2 pieces of 10 in x 10in wooden canvases. One will have a googoo&gaga design of choice (picked from the designs on their website -- http://www.googooandgaga.com/products). The other is ANY design of the winner's choice. Note that production takes 10-15 days from the date winner sends in his/her chosen designs. Contest ends on June 12, 2013. Winner will be notified by June 14, 2013 at the latest.

googoo&gaga Animals&Stripes

When I saw a sneak peek of googoo&gaga's latest collection for this season, I just couldn't help but squeal at the cuteness! It's like Christopher Kane gets a huge does of cute with the fluffiest animals thrown into the mix, and then set against eye popping summer stripes.

The inspiration? Well, according to Audrey, AJ has always wanted to do a collection inspired by some of his favorite animals, so he set photos against a backdrop of delicious candy-colored, almost-neon, stripes. Stripes of course, will always be a summer trend staple, forever reminding us of the sun and the sea.

The collection is called, Animals & Stripes.

And I think, I want the shirt versions for myself too! Eeeep! Too cute!

Googoo & Gaga's Animals & Stripes Collection launches this weekend at Expo Mom at The Rockwell Tent. See you there!

Mothering Earthlings is ON SALE!

It's Rone aka Earthling Mama's birthday month, so Rone is celebrating her birthday and the rest of the month with a great big MOTHERING EARTHLINGS SALE! Xavi's go to brands like googoo&gaga and In the Crib are on sale, along with a host of other brands. Check out the SALE page, HERE.

That said, I'm sharing with you these carefully handpicked pieces from Mothering Earthlings, that Rone sent to the kiddos for Christmas. We loved everything!

I love the print! This Basketball Court onesie is from googoo&gaga's Photographer Series, and this particular one is by Jake Verzosa.

Apart from a personalized apron that Berry is so crazy about - she wears it when she's baking, or playing pretend in her play kitchen, she also got the cutest rag doll ever. The Isabel rag doll by Anthill Fabric Gallery! Each rag doll by Anthill is exquisitely handmade from scrap fabrics and therefore unique, with her own personality. No two dolls are alike. More than that, buying an Isabel rag doll supports a community of mothers in Cebu, who lovingly make these dolls.

Unfortunately for you guys, my sister and I loved it so much, we ended buying most of the dolls last month, and gave them as gifts to deserving little girls heehee. I think there are only two dolls left in the Mothering Earthlings website. Eeep!

googoo&gaga Trunk Show + Holiday 2012 + The Photographer's Series

googoo & gaga's Annual Trunk Show is happening on December 15-16 na! They're launching Holiday 2012 too and it is sooo amazing. Notice the online flyer? Yes, you just saw a camo onesie, and feathers and skulls. These are going to sell like hotcakes, the little kiddos just have to have a piece of this collection.

And now for the sneak peek:

Love it already? Wait, there's more! googoo&gaga presents the Artist Collab - Photographer's Series. These are onesies and kids shirts featuring the works of Audrey & AJ's favorite photographers -- Ivan Sarenas, Jake Verzosa, and Paco Guerrero.

According to Audrey & AJ, "In the recent months where the country has experienced one tropical depression after another and seemingly endless debates on the controversial issues of the RH Bill and the Cybercrime Law, we, at googoo&gaga, felt it was fitting to bring people back to seeing the Philippines for its beauty and natural wealth. Thus, our collaboration with three of the country's top photographers who advocate (in their own ways) to preserve the Philippines, its people, and its resources."

Jake Verzosa (b. 1979) is a photographer based in Manila. He has traveled extensively around Southeast Asia and considers his documentaries and portraits as his personal work. His works have been exhibited in Manila, Tokyo, Singapore, Amsterdam, and Paris. He funds his personal works through advertising and editorials gigs. His personal work focuses on local life, youth stories, social issues and shifting cultures.

Jake joins googoo&gaga this Fall with his Basketball Court photo.

Paco Guerrero is a photographer who was born in the Philippines, grew up in South East Asia, Spain and USA, had his first assisting job in Singapore, first studio in Spain, and is now back in the Philippines. Since 2002, he has been working for a number of clients including Conde Nast, New York Times Travel, Marie Claire, Destinasian, GQ, and Endless Vacation among others. Locally he has worked for Town and Country, Marie Claire, Runners World, and Rogue. On request, Images and Wonderful Machine currently represent him in the US. He is a travel junkie that likes to tell stories of the places he visits and the people he meets. He specializes in travel, architecture, interiors, and portrait photography. On What I See, Paco decides to explore the country he left behind through the images he captures along the way.

Paco joins googoo&gaga this Fall with his Cebu Guitars photo.

Ivan Sarenas is a photographer, journalist, cinematographer who likes to keep a low-key profile. He has traveled the Philippines extensively and exhaustively as photographer of the prestigious Philippines Yearbook, as well as for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Greenpeace, Conservational International, National Geographic Productions, and the BBC. His fine art photographs have been exhibited at Pinto Gallery and the Ayala Museum in Manila, as well as in Tokyo and Paris. He is also currently the editor- in-chief of Dispatch Magazine, a travel and adventure publication of ROX, the biggest outdoor retailer in Southeast Asia. In the new TV documentary he co-hosts The Last Wild Place, he says: “To know ourselves we have to know our grounds. There is so much of the Philippines that is unknown to the Filipino, this show aims to spark the interest of everyone to explore these places that deserve attention.“

Ivan joins googoo&gaga this Fall with his Indigo-Banded Kingfisher photo.

Greetings Earthlings

Speaking of Mothering Earthlings, over the weekend, I met Rone Valles Guerrero of Mothering Earthlings, which reminded me! OMG! I promised her back in November that I'd write about her online clothing store that specializes in children's clothes (she has pieces for babies and mamas too!). It's a site that just has to be shared because it's filled with pieces that's perfect for when you want to buy unique gifts for the little ones in your life.

A mom of two boys, Rone started Mothering Earthlings to encourage self-expression. You can find quirky children's clothing and ever reliable cloth diapers and accessories brands like Agoo, BumbleBear, Fin + MeGoogoo & GagaGreen Sproutlets, In The Crib, Proud Mama, Ines Moda Infantil, Spinkie, Next9, and Jelly Nelly in her shop.

Every item in her shop has a lot of character. Cute, spunky and full of personality, like these:

Sunflower Power dress from googoo&gaga, Php750

Butterfly pillow in Sea Camouflage from Spinkie, Php1,175

Erika dress from Ines Moda Infantil, Php650

Kimono onesie from In The Crib, Php350

Future Azkals tee from Tot Couture, Php350

What sets Mothering Earthlings apart from most Filipino online shopping sites is that Mothering Earthlings has two online shops - one for the local market and one for the international market. After all, Rone and her family spent over a decade living in Spain, and is very much attuned to the fact that Filipinos based abroad have a hankering for all things Pinoy.

The Philippine shop was launched mid February 2011. It has retail prices in pesos, payment options of Philippine Paypal, GCash or bank deposit.

The international shop was launched on August 2, 2011. The international shop has retail prices in US$ and accepts international Paypal payments and credit card options via Paypal. The international shop not only brings Filipino brands to the world but it is a place where Filipinos abroad can buy Filipino brands. A bonus too is that Filipinos based abroad can shop not only for themselves but also buy and send presents for their family and friends back home.

Ooh La La, googoo&gaga!

googoo&gaga is very close to our hearts. Audrey is my ka-chika online. I've known AJ since way back in college. Their kids are the sweetest darlings. And also because, Berry is googoo&gaga's first ever Kooky Kid!

Berry even got her own custom designed googoo&gaga tee as one of her prizes, how special is that?!

I've celebrated every milestone of googoo&gaga with Audrey every time she would share them with me. So when she told me that they were on to Paris next, I just couldn't contain my excitement. OMG. Paris! I just knew they were meant for great things.

Presenting, googoo&gaga in Playtime Paris, "an international trade show dedicated to the Universes of children, juniors & maternity"

Audrey & AJ partnered with Angelique Villaraza Dominici in bringing googoo&gaga to the fashion capital of the world, and be seen by the rest of Europe. Here's more about Angelique:

After six years in the Marketing Division of L’Oreal Philippines, Angelique Villaraza Dominici moved to Paris to complete a Masters Degree in Luxury Brand Management. Her dream is to introduce high quality Filipino brands in Europe. Being a mother, she sees that entrepreneurship not only stretches one’s creativity, but must above all be fun. And what can be more enjoyable than working with the best children’s brands today, a category that plays with imagination, spontaneity and a carefree spirit. When she stumbled upon googoo&gaga two years ago, she felt that its artistic value would make it a great match for Europe, where a large percent of enterprises are still family owned. It was the strong and unique visuals of googoo&gaga that got the brand accepted into Playtime Paris, a trade fair known for its well-edited roster of exhibitors based in the world’s fashion capital.

Angelique lives with her husband Michel and 21-month-old Giuliano in the south of France.

As part of googoo&gaga's catalog for the fair, they are also showing the works from their Artist Collaboration Series 1, featuring the works of local artists Inksurge and Everywhere We Shoot.

Everywhere We Shoot Girls
Everywhere We Shoot Boys

Inksurge Mushrooms

Inksurge Owl

Congratulations to the growing and exponentially expanding googoo&gaga family! So proud of you guys!

Who Will Be googoo&gaga's Kooky Kid of the Year 2010?

As far as I know, Berry holds the crown, throne, scepter and title as The First Ever googoo&gaga Kooky Kid. Heehee!

Since 2009 is about to give way to 2010, then she will have to pass on the privilege of being googoo&gaga's Kooky Kid to this year's winner. To be eligible to join, all you have to do is take a photo of your little one wearing googoo&gaga and send it to audrey@googooandgaga.com. Previously submitted photos are considered eligible.

Like Berry, the winner will win Php 5,000 worth of googoo & gaga items, plus a specially designed googoo & gaga shirt. How special is that?! Super special!

For Berry's custom shirt, we told AJ & Audrey that Berry loved music, and with that, they came up with this:

It's just so Berry! We love it so much, we've actually asked Audrey if we can order shirts for Berry in various sizes, in this print of course, so she has one to wear as she grows.

I have to warn the parents though, if you're into winning as much as we were, be prepared to shamelessly bug family and friends for votes. Hahaha! We were so competitive, it was  almost stressful. But when we won, hey that was so much fun! It was a nerve-wracking, emotional, and fulfilling bonding experience that the whole family will tell Berry about for years to come.  Winner!
