French Sole Liberty Collection + Sip & Shop With Me!

You know how much I love flats, and that my affair really started with French Sole.

But what happens when two of my beloved British brands meet? It's kismet!

What's that other brand? Liberty of London, that what!

Yes, I'm talking Liberty prints, those adorably dainty floral prints that we just can't shake off from childhood. I still have scarves and Liberty print boxes from years ago that are timeless as they are undoubtedly British.

But Liberty prints + French Sole shoes? That's like a marriage of fun, quirk and stylishness.

This exclusive capsule collection, featuring Liberty's classic prints, playful details and French Sole's signature supple finish have arrived at French Sole boutiques here in Manila!

Navy Patent Leather Henrietta Flats

Nude Henrietta Betsy Bow Ballet Flats

Black Leather Classic Ballet Flats

According to Jane Winkworth, founder of French Sole, it was not difficult to imbibe the spirit of Liberty in her shoe designs, "There was little challenge for me as the ideas just came naturally - the colours are inspirational and just mixing and clashing the prints followed the style that I am known for in my shoe designs."

Now here's the fun part, I would love for you dear readers to join me as we preview the  French Sole by Appointment to Liberty at the soon to open French Sole store in Greenbelt 5, this May 5 at 2:30 PM!!

Just message me at manilafashionobserver@gmail.com so I can add you to the guest list! ;)

Hope to meet some of you, and I promise I'll help you shop for a pair or two!

The Ultimate "Green" Tote

Nothing can be greener than this. A tote bag made out of actual billboard material!

Liberty of London for Target is coming out with a Billboard tote that's available for pre-order now at Target online. Yeah, a Billboard tote. Basically, these:

Taken while walking through Times Square with my sisters and Berry last month!

Will turn into this:

It's a limited edition piece, made out of tarp from the New York City 42nd and Broadway billboards and thus, no two will be alike. So if you want a piece of the Liberty of London x Target action and a piece of NYC, this is what you should go for!

Hey, $29.99 for a limited edition tote is not a bad deal at all! Pre-order now before this goes out of stock! The bags are due to ship out starting September 5, 2010.

Oh! And hey, since we have a lot of billboards in Manila, maybe this is a good way to recycle old billboard ads no? That is, if the tarps haven't been worn out by wind, water and pollution already. But hey, a Vicki Belo Billboard tote sounds so kitschy bad, it's so good! I want one!

Note: Each Liberty of London x Target Billboard bag is unique in color and pattern based on the variance in billboard material used to manufacture it (see first photo to get an idea of what prints to expect).

Give Me Liberty or Give Me...

A.P.C. !

While it's wonderful that Kamiseta did a collaboration with Liberty of London, I just wish they didn't overdo it you know? They should have just let the prints "speak", instead of doing that print on print thing with the ribbons and all that jazz.

I think A.P.C. worked with Liberty prints the best. The pieces they came up with were simple and understated. This is what classic is all about. Fresh but still harkening to Liberty's traditional roots.

But there's no denying, the fact that Liberty worked with Kamiseta is a feat in itself. And we hope for more collabs with international labels to come! Now Kamiseta can say they're at the level of 10 Corso Como, Cacharel, Louis Vuitton, Nike & Yves St. Laurent - labels who have worked with Liberty, a historic yet still relevant English institution!
