Eye Society Eyewear 2013 Presentation

Branded Lifestyle Inc's most recent eyewear presentation was pretty special this season.

For one, it was held at Eye Society, easily THE place to go to if you need to go for vision testing, pick up a new pair of frames, or browse through their collection of luxe eyeglasses and sunnies.

Which is exactly what I did with my equally eyewear crazed friends Karrots and Jackie.

Char Siason of BLI and her team walked us through the collection, arranged into four trend themes.

First up was Printed Matters, which as you can guess, was all about printed and textured frames.

We had fun with this bunch. Playful, colorful and definitely not typical.

Tory Burch graphic print sunnies

Dolce & Gabbana lace sunnies

trying on the lace Dolce & Gabbana sunnies on for size, Jackie & Tita K in tortoise shell frames

more Tory Burch graphic print sunnies

Dolce & Gabbana Stripes

Stripes matched my outfit!

High Tea is very feminine & girly.

The highlight of the collection being Dolce&Gabbana's Flower sunnies with resin-molded flowers screwed onto the temples.

Zee how gorge? Like I said, it's screwed on so these won't fall off. Unless your five year old plucks them out deliberately. Ahihi.

Ahhhh, Black is Back. But did it ever go away?

Those Prada Baroque sunnies that sold like hotcakes? Reincarnated this season as Mimimal Baroque, with eyeglass frames in this shape.

Geo Future was an unexpected fave! I've always thought I was into the classics...

But I found myself spending a lot of time trying on the frames here. I particularly liked the Prada Poeme sunnies.

So runway and conceptual! Like my eyebrows sprouted flowers. Well, I ended up getting the Prada Poeme in black. Because once you go black...it will go with most of your outfits, divah?

Plus, you've got to check out the Miu Miu Rasoir. It's like a razor blade cut through the bottom part of the frame, hence Rasoir.   As Ronn Wong of BLI says, its a fancy word for razor. Razor...Razoir... Rasoir!

And btw, Rasoir is Riri approved!

Look for these frames and sunnies at Eye Society, LS Pascual, Sarabia Optical, Adora and The SM Store.

Say it with Sunnies

A couple of weeks ago, Eileen Marquez of BLI invited me again into their showroom so I can take a look at their Spring/Summer 2012 Collection of sunglasses and lenses from luxury eyewear brands like Prada, Bulgari, Tiffany & Co. and Dolce & Gabbana.

Last time, the Prada Baroque sunnies caught my eye, and this season, I am loving the whimsical frames from Dolce & Gabbana! Although actually, there's a great mix of sunnies to suit every personality this season.

Here's a taste of what to you'll see at Adora in Greenbelt and LS Pascual Optical in Rockwell & Shangri-la Mall when you drop by these days:

European playboy sunnies from Dolce & Gabbana, which I would actually wear! I love the oversized aviator frames!

Fun printed frames, also from Dolce & Gabbana. Frames pa lang, summer na summer na! But the shape is a classic that can withstand seasons.

How cute are the stars on the arms of this one?

Polka dots or leopard print frames? Take your pick!

The metal plaque logos on the sides are pretty discreet, you can really just let the printed frames work their attention-grabbing magic.

Meanwhile, Burberry is all about understated elegance with these two frames above. Now that I think about it, I want the light colored frames above. So chic.

Meanwhile, Bulgari is totally blinged-out! This season again, it will continue to please Lola Glamorosa.

This one is more subdued. I am getting some sort of Western vibe on this one.

The collection of lenses for Spring/Summer 2012 are quite interesting too, and have loads of character. Take for instance the three oddly shaped frames on the upper left, very librarian cool. Or the studiously classic tortoise shell frames right at the middle. The white frames are something I wouldn't dare wear, but would actually look perfect on some creative type. The clear frames on the right side (third from upper right), tell me, who can get away with those?

Again, Dolce & Gabbana has great eyeglass frames this season. I really really like these two below. There's a geeky, thoughtful Albert Maysles feel to these:

And did you know there are eyeglass versions of the souped-up Bulgari frames as well?

Check this out! Slip off the sunnies, and put on these babies! They make a great matchy-matchy, signature look! If you are into fancy frames that is.

Btw, for those who missed out on Prada Baroques last season, expect for these to make a comeback soon, but this time around, they come in square-ish frames! Excited yet? I personally want to see those in person too!

So Bright We Have to Wear Shades

I had the time of my life while I was in Manila, and was invited by Eileen Marquez of Branded Lifestyle Inc., (the distributor of luxury & fashion eyewear in the country) to their office in Makati. If you know me well, I am obsessed with sunnies. I have a collection of what I consider to be iconic sunglasses and I would buy more if only I did not have a lot of others items on my wishlist. Sigh, right?

I literally felt like a kid in a candy store when I stepped foot inside the showroom and BLI Luxury Division's Vicky Marchadesch (Asst. General Manager) and Sugar Pecjo (Sr. Brand Manager) showed me rows upon rows of sunglasses from Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Tiffany & Co., Prada and Bulgari.

I swear, it was so fun going through all the frames. (Plus, I want their compartmentalized drawers too. Just imagine having one at home to keep all your eyewear in. Very organized, and just lovely to look at your collection all in one place.) If you like classic frames, there's plenty plenty to choose from. But to keep this post spicy and out of the ordinary, let's check out some of the stand-outs from their collections:

Yellow & purple printed sunnies from Versace's Alice in Wonderland Collection: According to Sugar, Versace is known for its loud, crazy designs, so when they went minimalist a few seasons ago, the reception was lukewarm. This collection harkens back to Versace's original roots.

Wanna do it like Naomi with Dolce & Gabbana's Animalier Collection?

The frames all come in Dolce & Gabbana's trademark animal print, and rendered in various colors like orange, red, yellow, turquoise, blue & purple. Crazy. Sexy. Cool. And out in stores this July!

Here's one of their best-selling lines: Dolce & Gabbana's Logo Plaque Edition frames - because hey, if a Pinoy is going to spend Php15,000 on sunglasses, the logo better be there, heeheehee.

How cute is this one? Solid on the outside, floral print on the inside!

Prada's clear cat eye frame...

...which is exactly like the ones seen on the Prada Spring 2010 runway. Yes, the exact one.

But wait, there's also the updated cat eye frame from Fall 2011. Called the Swing, it should be in Manila this October.

Oh and if you liked these Baroque frames from Prada's Spring 2011 collection, these are due in stores come September:

How about an outfit shot for inspiration?

Fashion forward!

Oh oh, and I also spotted these lola glamorosa lenses from Bulgari. I can so imagine coiffured grandmas  loving these. Heehee.

But if I had to choose from all these frames, I would of course still go for the classics. I pretend shopped and zoomed in on these 3:
My top 3 picks from top to bottom: Prada, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana. If only I can buy all three!

Thanks so much Vicky, Sugar and CJ for letting me browse through your collections! I can imagine what fun it must be like to go to work with a showroom of sunnies & spectacles (which reminds me, I have got to show you the cutest eyeglass frames from D&G ever in another post) right in your office. Uhmmm, expect me to keep visiting you girls at work whenever you have new stuff in, heehee!
