Eye Society Eyewear 2013 Presentation

Branded Lifestyle Inc's most recent eyewear presentation was pretty special this season.

For one, it was held at Eye Society, easily THE place to go to if you need to go for vision testing, pick up a new pair of frames, or browse through their collection of luxe eyeglasses and sunnies.

Which is exactly what I did with my equally eyewear crazed friends Karrots and Jackie.

Char Siason of BLI and her team walked us through the collection, arranged into four trend themes.

First up was Printed Matters, which as you can guess, was all about printed and textured frames.

We had fun with this bunch. Playful, colorful and definitely not typical.

Tory Burch graphic print sunnies

Dolce & Gabbana lace sunnies

trying on the lace Dolce & Gabbana sunnies on for size, Jackie & Tita K in tortoise shell frames

more Tory Burch graphic print sunnies

Dolce & Gabbana Stripes

Stripes matched my outfit!

High Tea is very feminine & girly.

The highlight of the collection being Dolce&Gabbana's Flower sunnies with resin-molded flowers screwed onto the temples.

Zee how gorge? Like I said, it's screwed on so these won't fall off. Unless your five year old plucks them out deliberately. Ahihi.

Ahhhh, Black is Back. But did it ever go away?

Those Prada Baroque sunnies that sold like hotcakes? Reincarnated this season as Mimimal Baroque, with eyeglass frames in this shape.

Geo Future was an unexpected fave! I've always thought I was into the classics...

But I found myself spending a lot of time trying on the frames here. I particularly liked the Prada Poeme sunnies.

So runway and conceptual! Like my eyebrows sprouted flowers. Well, I ended up getting the Prada Poeme in black. Because once you go black...it will go with most of your outfits, divah?

Plus, you've got to check out the Miu Miu Rasoir. It's like a razor blade cut through the bottom part of the frame, hence Rasoir.   As Ronn Wong of BLI says, its a fancy word for razor. Razor...Razoir... Rasoir!

And btw, Rasoir is Riri approved!

Look for these frames and sunnies at Eye Society, LS Pascual, Sarabia Optical, Adora and The SM Store.

Summer 2013 Sunnies: Miu Miu Culte Collection

The amazing Pentagon sunnies from Miu Miu's Culte Collection - comes in brushed metal, chamoise and black frames

Of all the sunnies I loved at the BLI showroom in Makati, I went home with the light-colored, suede framed sunnies in the middle (see above photo) from Miu Miu. Most of my sunglasses play around black, grey, dark brown and tortoise frames so lately, I've been on the lookout for lighter colored frames to add to my collection.

It was actually a toss up between these and classic sunnies from Oliver Peoples (which is also love!) but the BLI girls made it easier for me when they said, go for the Miu Mius! So ok, that's settled! Tadaaaa!

When I got home, still giddy with joy because I had new sunnies for this sweltering summer, I started Googling about them and realized, OMG. I am wearing celebrity sunnies! Haha. Check out Miranda Kerr, Rihanna, Diana Agron, Leighton Meester etc all in the brushed metal version (top of topmost photos above) of my sunnies, which incidentally, is also exclusively available here in the Philippines at Adora in Greenbelt 5.

They're definitely cute, and the brushed metal frames have a rockstar/celebrity quality to them. Except the metal frames are also quite heavy, pare. Here are other whimsically designed sunnies from the Miu Miu Culte Collection, which if I am not mistaken, are from the Apple line (notice the slight curve on the lens?):

This is just the Miu Miu collection! Wait for more of my posts on the hottest shades of summer from BLI. In the meantime, for updates, follow LuxuryEyewearPH on Twitter and Instagram and Like them on Facebook!

19 Weeks: Play Date then Day to Night

Christopher Kane x Topshop dress, Birkenstocks

Audrey & I organized a play date for Berry, Gia & Georgia last week at their home - they had a "nail polish play date" and had a manicure/pedicure session with Hopscotch Kids, heehee. Even 6 month old Georgia put polish on her toes - it's water based naman! Adorbs! I wore this Christopher Kane x Topshop dress - it's comfy with a pambahay feel, but still cool enough to be worn out. AJ, their daddy aka The Graphic Designer, automatically recognized Christopher Kane's work! Galing! Had to clarify though, "Topshop lang ito!" Hahaha!

That same week, I hied off to Anthem in Rockwell to check out Anthology's new Hudson wedges. Angganda! Pregnancy friendly too ha! It's so light and so comfy! I like the grey ones the best, because it has that  nude effect, doesn't look chunky at all and just blends with the skin.

It comes in these 3 colors, and I would so get this in black too when they have it out. Soon please!

I was actually in Rockwell for a lunch meeting with Oliver of AVA (btw, thanks to everyone who supported the FEED sale on AVA! Almost sold out again as of week 1!) but I also had dinner that same evening with Dada and friends - Karrots, Chico, Jacob and Kaye, so this was my attempt at day to night dressing:

jeweled flats from Miu Miu, a dress from Hong Kong, Kenneth Jay Lane necklace, Fenton/Fallon cuff

day to night flats diba?

Pajama Mama

shirt: Topshop, printed pants: H&M, sandals: Miu Miu, bag: Mulberry Alexa

Yes, I went out and brought Berry to playschool looking like I just rolled out of bed. Although this photo was taken when we got back. So it looks extra rumpled.

This outfit was presko, and I could actually feel the breeze on my legs when we were walking outside. We really should wear more pants like these seriously.

My advice: Make sure the fabric is lightweight and soft on the skin. This is just made out of cotton. Linen is presko, but a bit scratchy. Silk would be nice, but too high maintenance in my opinion. And please, forget about synthetics!

So Perfy!

Ugh! How perfect can this outfit be? Everything in here screams, "I want!".

Love the Theory shirtdress (called Ashleigh, and sold out at Shopbop! Why am I not surprised?), the Miu Miu platforms, THE CELINE BOSTON TOTE!

Ugh! I hate you Blair! Only because I'm jealous!

Berry's New Friend

Berry loves dogs, especially the teeny tiny ones. She enjoys running after them, but sometimes I get worried, because she likes touching them on the face and tapping the nose. I really have to train her to be careful and to be more gentle.

Last weekend, we went to a birthday party in Connecticut, where she met Killy, a Pekingese. Good thing Killy is a gentle one, I read that Pekingese aren't exactly child friendly. Actually, when Berry first started running after her, she did her best to avoid Berry, hahaha! But eventually, they got along, and Berry even tried kissing her on the face! To much success! I guess she realized Berry didn't mean her any harm, so she responded by licking Berry's face a couple of times, to Berry's delight!

Now, for the requisite outfit shots! Just keepin' it real. Berry wearing a dress stained by strawberries.

Striped dress from Ralph Lauren, Saltwater sandals

Here I am in mommy clothes. Hey, it's all about dressing for comfort! It's no joke running after an active 14 month old. Ever since Berry came into this world, I've come to appreciate and respect nannies more than ever! What a tough job! When Berry was still a newborn, I told my friend Paz I couldn't wait for her to be more interactive and start walking so I could play with her, and Paz told me to enjoy every minute of their babyhood because it doesn't get any easier. True enough, these days I wish Berry could sit still even for just a minute! Then again, taking care of Berry is a workout in itself. On the bright side, my arms have never been as toned as they are now, what with all the carrying I've been doing!
Karen Burnout tee from Nation Ltd., ripstop cargo pants and necklace from J.Crew,
flats from Miu Miu

Speaking of workouts, isn't that all the more reason why I deserve pretty and comfortable shoes! Wahahaha! Where's the connection?

How Does One Say No...

To jeans with a $16.97 price tag? I've got more than enough pairs of jeans actually, but when I saw this in the sale section of Banana Republic, I couldn't walk away. And when I put them on, they just fit so well! Plus it was marked down from $98 so it's such a steal!

Here's what I wore initially:

Shirt: Topshop, Necklace: J.Crew, Cuff: Fallon, Belt: Zara,
Boyfriend Jeans: Current/Elliott in Super Loved Destroyed, Flats: Miu Miu
I've got my online buddy Kate to thank for finding these Miu Mius for me! Just when I thought it was a lost cause searching for them, Kate emailed me from out of the blue to say she had these reserved for me! How amazing is that! That's just like manna falling from heaven! Again, how does one say no? Of course I couldn't say no to a blessing! ;) Thanks again Kate!

You'll Be Mine

My darling Miu Mius in 36, save yourselves for me! I'll see you at Barneys!

Your bright and sparkly bits are beckoning me!

Ay!

I thought I saw a Miu Miu!

The cat print dress from Zara is actually sold sans collar for $39.90.

Cute, but too reminiscent of Miu Miu's S/S 2010 cat, bird & naked lady prints for my liking. Meaning, this will look dated in time. And I like pieces that you can wear for years without people realizing it's been around for a while.
