Cocorose London Now in The Philippines!

I have that pair of flats the model is wearing above. And yes, it's as dainty as it looks, see:

The Bayswater - buttery-soft leather with fish leather detailing and silver toggles to finish off the bow

Its from Cocorose London, a shoe label from the UK that is now available here in The Philippines. Not only are they pretty and practical, they're prettily packaged too. They call their shoe box a presentation box, and admittedly, it is a presentation in itself - travel pouch, satin tote, polishing cloth, gift tissues, the works:

You can hand it over as a gift and you don't even need to wrap it nicely. It is what it is, a presentation box, and it lives up to its name. It's a shoe box you wouldn't want to throw out, in short.

There's also a story behind the shoes. A relatively young shoe label that was started by Janan Leo in London's East End in 2007, it has grown by leaps and bounds, partnering with local shoe makers and distinguished British institutions.

The Luxury Heritage Made in England collection was borne out of a passion to help revive the heritage and traditional skill of making shoes in England. Hand-crafted in Northampton, England using fine leather and designed using specialist Poron, a rich underfoot cushioning, with slow memory foam, Cocorose London's Luxury Heritage non-foldable ballerina shoes are available in an array of exquisite colours and finishes.

Apart from working with the annual Orange British Academy Film Awards and The Orient Express, Cocorose London also has capsule collections done in collaboration with The Royal Ballet...

...and Liberty Art Fabrics aka Liberty prints...

In the Philippines, Cocorose London is available at Rustan's Alabang, Makati & Shangrila, The Flat Shop Greenhills and Glorietta, Tarte Tatin Rockwell and Greenbelt, Schu Glorietta, MOA, Trinoma, Rockwell, Cebu  & Trinoma. Price for the Diffusion Range is Php3,290 and the Classic Elegance Range is Php5,490.

Shades of Neutral

Shirt from Equipment France, H&M shorts, Anthology shoes, J.Crew tote & bracelet,
bangle from my friend Kaye

It looks like I have been dressing with a theme these days. This time, it's based on color - or rather, the lack of it. Everything here comes in a neutral shade of beige & brown.

Here's a better look at my tote. I'm too lazy to bring around leather bags these days. I like the casual nonchalance of a canvas tote.

Oh, and I just realized my outfit is also an amalgamation of sale finds and presents. I got lucky with the Equipment shirt which I snapped up at a deep discount at Madison Los Angeles, the shorts were marked down to $10 at H&M, my wooden bangle is a gift from my friend Kaye, and the oxfords are from Anthology shoes (thanks Karrots & Ivan!).

I am quite obsessed with Equipment shirts, and I would to buy a rainbow of it when I have the chance.

Carine Roitfeld's life partner started it back in 1976 (same year I was born! ha!) and Current/Elliot's Serge Azria revived the label a year ago. Now, it has become the hottest thing to have and I totally see why. The lineage of this cult brand is just impeccable! Read more about it, here.

Sweet 16

Ray- Ban aviators, denim shirt: Swish Jeans, shorts: Old Navy, oxfords: Anthology

Here I am wearing a denim shirt I had since I was 19. That makes this top almost 16 years old. And it looks just as good when I first got it at Linea Italia, back in the day. Is Linea still around? I remember they used to have really good stuff when they first opened, and then the quality of the pieces just slid down the gutter. I got this when they still had decent pieces, I mean, hello. This shirt is still alive. I think I can even pass this on to Berry.

Speaking of Berry, she took this photo. Vantage point from her stroller:

Temperley London True British Charity Auction

Alice Temperley, Annie Lennox & Simon de Pury host a charity auction with a dinner by Mark Hix and supported by Harpers Bazaar.

‘Alice came to a Circle dinner... heavily pregnant with her soon to be born baby... I thought…
”Christ... I hope she doesn’t think we’re a bunch of nutters”!
She was so sweet… taking the whole evening in... Giving birth a few weeks afterwards.
And then... one day… months later... she came right up to the plate... That’s what this exhibition is about!
Alice is super gifted... unique... A doer... She makes extraordinary things happen...
Her creations are out of this world... yet of it... And when she says something... She absolutely means it.
Something about the idea of The Circle resonated with her. She didn’t waste time talking about it... she just got on… and did something.
My kind of gal is Alice T... Wow!’
-Annie Lennox

Inspired by a group of women who met over a dinner to which she had been invited by Annie Lennox, Alice Temperley began a two year long process that has culminated in her presiding over an ambitious project that sees her raising money for and benefiting directly the lives of others

Having always loved Africa, she decided upon an Oxfam charity, for which she could raise money and see with her own eyes how the money was being spent – this charity being The Circle

The Circle is a group of influential women who come together to use their profiles, ideas, skills and resources to connect with women living in poverty around the world and make a real difference to those lives – from empowering women so they might earn a living and giving girls the chance of an education to fighting HIV and AIDs, adapting to climate change and protecting women’s rights.

These like-minded women bring a fresh approach to the challenges women face both now and in the future, with funds raised from Circle events supporting Oxfam projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Since Christmas, Alice worked to create a series of beautiful images that would be showcased both as part of her highly anticipated Temperley London Autumn Winter presentation and later, crucially, to be auctioned at a high profile event. This essential element was combined with her inspiration for the winter collection - the beautiful photographs of the late Norman Parkinson, whose archive became available to Alice exclusively for this purpose.

Recreating Parkinson’s iconic look in her own signature, Alice Temperley worked with the winter collection on contemporary, quintessential, British women and invested in a highly skilled team to shoot the ‘muses’ across two days. The resulting series of 16 images included incredible British women such as Annie Lennox, Amanda Harlech, Sophie Dahl, Erin O’Connor, Rosamund Pike, Liberty Ross, Lily Cole and Laura Bailey, who all sat for the same cause.

Once the images were shot by Adam Whitehead, they were printed onto canvas and embroidered upon, making them decorative, and truly unique, existing under the title ‘True British’.

On the 18th May, together with Annie Lennox & Simon de Pury with support from Harpers Bazaar, Alice Temperley is hosting a private charity dinner & auction at Phillips de Pury gallery in London, catered by Mark Hix.

The Kylie Collection

I love Kylie! The Locomotion was great, but it was Spinning Around and Can't Get You Out Of My Head that sealed the deal for me. Hearing her music just makes you want to stand up and dance! She isn't exactly my style icon since her sexy look is not my kind of thing (I'm quite conservative, so hotpants will never find their way to my closet), but hey it works for her! One thing's for sure though! I want to look like that when I get to her age! I mean, how does she do it? How can she look this good right after chemo?(If this was me, I'd probably look like i just got out of Auschwitz.)

It seems that the folks at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London are enamored as well. According to the Telegraph, "She has been a soap star, a pop princess and, for much of her career, the quintessence of a manufactured entertainer. Somewhat surprisingly, the Victoria & Albert Museum has decided to dedicate an entire exhibition next year to Kylie Minogue. Kylie: The Exhibition will feature 200 of the performer's costumes, accessories, photographs and awards, including the gold-coloured hotpants she wore in the video for her first No 1 single for 10 years, Spinning Around, in 2000."

If I happened to be in London I would definitely go and check this exhibit out. Don't worry about me. Those gold hotpants can stay there under the watchful eyes of the museum guards.
