The Latest on Grandma's

I love Angel's experiment with Grandma's Secret Spot Remover and it just makes me so happy when I see how much it has helped moms like me who really can't stand stains. It really is such a great help. A relief to have around, because now we never have to worry about nasty stains. Especially if you hate seeing your favorite things and clothes go to waste.

Here's the excerpt from her blog, Wonder Woman Rises:

Recently, Berry accidentally wrote on our couch with a black Sharpie pen (yes a Sharpie!) and you know what, Grandma's took out the stain, no sweat. Grandma's is amazing, I tell you. To experiment is to believe!

PLUS! Great news for those who frequent Robinson's Galleria and those who live in the Diliman/Katipunan Quezon City area!

Grandma's Secret Spot Remover is now available at PLUM Manila, at 50th Avenue in Robinson's Galleria:

And since Caleb's Closet Ecostore is based in Diliman, QC, expect faster shipping when you order online and you live in the area!

Incidentally, Lei of Caleb's Closet  shares that she will be setting up a stall at the Rock for Humanity Eco Bazaar in Claret School in QC this Sunday! Look for her there!

Go for Gold

We were invited to visit Kuala Lumpur to attend Dada's graduate school classmate's wedding in their home two weeks ago. It was such a beautiful experience and one of the most gorgeous, intimate ceremonies I have been to ever. I thought I'd share with you glimpses from the wedding, and of course, what we wore!

Prior to the bride and groom's exchange of rings, the "exchange of vows" was actually between the groom, and the bride's father, as per tradition. So it is basically like a contract between the groom and his father-in-law.

Like the Chinese Ting Hun, the couples exchange gifts. But unlike the Chinese Ting Hun, this was done during the actual ceremony. The ones at the back are for the bride, from the groom's family. The gifts in the pretty carriages dripping with pearls and on gilded trays are from the bride's side, for the groom.

I spied wedding cakes, a Macbook Air, the Koran, clutches from Furla & Ferragamo, watches, perfumes, and fruit platters amongst a host of other gifts. But it was this unique, organic arrangement of fruits that caught my eye. I love the raspberries cradled on the "nest". How adorable!

The following day, we attended the formal wedding reception, held at a hotel in Bukit Bintang. I enjoyed watching what the guests wore, from silk batiks and baju melayus for the men to baju kurungs and Indian saris plus the random modern cocktail dress or gown.

I thought this buffet style of serving guests was brilliant!

Everything was laid out inside in front of us, so no need for guests to stand up and get food at the buffet table. I think this is the best alternative to a sit down dinner. Plus can I say, there was bottomless rice! OMG! I had two servings!

There was a mini wedding ceremony held on this stage...
Where the principal sponsors got to greet the couple, sprinkling potpourri over their heads, and lightly splashing their hands with oil. The principal sponsors read like a who's who of Malaysia - from a former Prime Minister to high ranking government officials and industrialists.

And of course, there was us, aka the friends who flew in, heehee.

For the wedding ceremony, which required proper attire, the bride suggested that Dada wear a baju melayu or a batik shirt and long pants. While I could wear a long sleeved blouse and a long skirt. After weeks of researching and scouring the shops here in Singapore for something appropriate to wear, we ended up wearing these:

Look at Dada's batik shirt, he looks "resplendent" as his friend put it. Prince Jefri is that you? Wear a songkok and I'd mistake you for President SBY!

Meanwhile, I found a long pleated skirt at River Island, and a long sleeved top from Zara. I just paired it with my Rebecca Minkoff MAC, a Fenton/Fallon cuff and the metallic peep toe slingbacks I wore to my own wedding.

This outfit would have been perfectly appropriate, if not for the Bio-Oil stain on my skirt! Buti na lang I had Grandma's to the rescue, and it washed off right away.

Grandma's Secret Spot Remover Works on Shoes and Chairs

This morning, I met up with my friend MM, who was in town for a business trip. Over breakfast at Food for Thought, she asked me about Grandma's Secret Spot Remover, because she was planning to give it to her mommy friends for Christmas. My other friend Kristine brought up the same thing, so I have decided I will think of a nice gift packaging for it, because it seriously is a brilliant idea! I will let you know once I've come up with a cute way to give it to friends, so you may all place your orders for Christmas, heehee!

Anyhoo, all this talk about Grandma's Secret Spot Remover also reminded me about my friend Ingrid aka The Baghag's success story with Grandma's. Her DH stepped on her favorite pair of DKNY espadrilles, and she was understandably distraught...
I told her to try Grandma's but she was worried about a ring forming around the treated stain (you know, those water stains on canvas). I told her no such thing will happen, and true enough, Grandma's came to the rescue! ;)
Here's another happy story. My sister Nicole was cleaning her plastic chair, to no avail. She tried using Pledge, but the dust stains wouldn't budge. She tried scrubbing it with detergent, still no effect. She then experimented with Grandma's Secret Spot Remover, and as you can see here, the left side treated with Grandma's looked pretty clean, while the right side remained dirty:

Encouraged, she went ahead and treated the whole back with Grandma's and of course, it looked good as new:

Amazing right? Didn't realize Grandma's works on plastic too! Then again, Grandma's is a miracle product, so this shouldn't come as a surprise! ;)

For the complete list of Grandma's stockists, click HERE! We are adding more to the list, including Chimes Felcris in Davao, select National Bookstore branches and at SM Fashion Forum, so watch out for announcements! To my readers in Singapore, Grandma's is also coming soon to retail stores near you!

MFO Anniversary Blog Giveaway: Grandma's, BugBand & Vapor Soove

This giveaway is from my family to yours! I have put together 3 mini gift packs composed of 5 items each (to celebrate 5 years!) - 2 bottles Grandma's Secret Spot Remover, 2 BugBands, 1 Vapor Soove.

Consider it a care package packed with plenty of thought for your family's welfare:

- Grandma's Secret Spot Remover is a biodegradable stain remover that will work on all your family's tough to remove stains. Perfect for stain magnets!

- BugBand, a DEET-free insect repellant that I just brought in, is perfect for the entire family (Dad can use it when he's out cycling/playing golf, Mommy can use it when she's out running, the kids can use it every time they are outdoors) and of course

- Vapor Soove (a camphor-free chest rub that is safe for babies 6 months old onwards) for the sniffles.

I swear, all these products work! I can't live without them, and I am sure, once you have tried these, you won't be able to think of life without these ESSENTIALS in your family's life! Seriously, I panic whenever I am about to run out of Grandma's. Berry does not play outdoors without BugBand wrapped around her ankle. Two days ago, Berry got a cold. She slept overnight with Vapor Soove rubbed on her back, chest and the soles of her feet, and she slept so well. The following day, tadaa! Cold was gone. Seriously. I credit it to lots of liquids, mommy's touch and Vapor Soove. (Oh and I use Vapor Soove too when I have the sniffles!)

I wish I can do an Oprah and give you all my readers a care pack each, but right now, we can only have 3 winners. If you've always wanted to try these products, or you just need to replenish your stocks, here's your chance!

Grandma's Takes The Cake

Sharing with you more love for Grandma's from happy, satisfied customers. Inez & Jill even did their own Grandma's Secret Experiments and documented it!

Inez tried it on tar:

One of Pao's white shirts got stained at Whiskey Hill 7 with tar. I don't know how he managed to get tar on his shoulder but there it was. My friend Tin Dychiao had just brought in Grandma's Secret Spot Remover from the States, so I decided to try it on the tar stains. AND IT WORKED!

No, I'm not being paid to say this. Haha.

I learned that to get rid of Tar, you have to get the solid chunks out first. Then wash with hot water. Grandma's works right away, but little by little. TAR STICKS. But with a bit of patience, you can get it out :)

See, I'm a domestic goddess at heart :P - Inez

Tar stains on the shoulder area. My cameraphone couldn't capture it so well, but believe me,
it was there.

Yay, tar-free -- well, except for a teeny, tiny spot I really couldn't scrub out.

Little miracle worker in a bottle. You can order it through shopspot.multiply.com

Jill of Kikay Exchange experimented on her stained trousers:

Here's my comfiest pair of pants ever with some ugly food stains on the left leg.

Same pair of pants treated with Grandma's Secret Spot Remover and then left for a few hours. Actually, you're only supposed to treat stains for a few minutes but I totally forgot all about it:p

I then hand washed the affected area with Perla soap and then threw my pants inside the hamper ready to be sent out to the laundry house. After a few days, here it is good as new and with no hint of discoloration whatsoever, very impressive considering that I went way beyond the recommended 5-10 minutes (try 6 hours:p). Not bad Grandma!

Meanwhile, here are more testimonials (in honor of Friendster, heehee) I have received from delighted "Grandchildren":

Thanks so much for the magic spot remover! It really works! I gave some to my friends and they're all happy with the result! - CarRet

I bought a bottle of Grandma's and I'm impressed! The grease stain on my dress disappeared! It works like a charm. Super sulit. I got mine from Momtreprenuer :) - Angela

This stuff works!!! I just cleaned my Longchamp and got rid of a ballpen streak! :D - Carissa

I tried it on a piece of cloth with a ballpen mark and it removed the stain! - Dex

I have a new, cream colored Ralph Lauren blazer our help accidentally stained with some other clothes in the wash. I almost gave up on it and almost threw it out but good thing i was able to get hold of Grandma's! It saved my blazer from being thrown out. I haven't even worn it twice. But now i can wear it again. Yipeeee! - Kristine

And now, I leave you with an experiment I just did - using Grandma's to remove a Sharpie mark left by Berry on our wooden floor:

I soaked the Sharpie marks with Grandma's and wiped it away with a wet cloth,
followed by Clorox Wipes.

 Tadaaaa!

While Grandma's works on month old stains, I think the best results are when fresh stains are treated right away.  That way, the stain hasn't seeped into the material yet. I strongly recommend bringing Grandma's with you - either in the diaper bag, or your handbag. It's really such a handy dandy cleaner, I cannot imagine life without it!

Oh, and good news Singapore! Grandma's is coming soon! We are looking for stockists so if you any of you dear readers have recommendations, please feel free to let us know who to approach! =)
