Calendar This: MaArte Fair 2015

The Museum Foundation of the Philippine's (MFPI) annual fundraiser and poster child, the MaArte Fair, is on its 7th year this year, and it's happening this August 28, 29 and 30, from Friday to Sunday, from 10 am to 10 pm,  at the Rockwell Tent.

MFPI's MaArte 2015: Craft, Art, Food & Design Fair promises to surprise and entice lovers of the unique and the new with over 70 artisans to choose from. 

My favorites like Filip + Inna, Abre Linea and Amarie will be there, but be prepared to discover new products, social enterprises and entrepreneurs to support! I'm going to be looking out for these:

I'm almost afraid for my August budget. 

But then again, MaArte Fair is all about shopping for a cause, supporting not only MFPI's fundraising efforts but also encouraging local craftsmen and communities to push their design sensibilities forward and create products made from locally sourced and indigenous materials that bring pride and joy to those who wear and use them.

It's a vibrant collection with details of indigenous woven fabric.

The Mommy Mundo Bazaar is happening this Sunday, November 10 and again on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the Rockwell Tent, don't miss it!

80 booths will carry the latest finds for mommies and kids alike. And before you think its the same shops as before, there are new brands to discover, like Kate Baked Cookies at the Two Tots booth, who will be launching 2 new flavors this Sunday!

The 2014 edition of the Mom 24/7 Planner will also be launched at the Mommy Mundo Bazaar, and currently available for pre-order online at MommyMundo.com. 

All “Mommy Mundo Privilege Passport holders”, even new applicants on the day, will get free entrance to the event. Passport holders with cards issued before October 31, 2013 will receive a complimentary copy of the new Mom 24/7 Planner - but note, strictly for “PICK UP” at the event dates only!

Entrance to the Mommy Mundo Bazaar is 30 pesos, 100% of which will benefit Momshare’s outreach programs. All About Kids Bazaar

Today, August 10 at the Rockwell Tent, Working Mom puts together a carnival themed bazaar that’s filled with all sorts of dazzling sights—bringing more than just a shopping experience, but a fun bonding day for the whole family. 

Super sales and discounts that go up to 70% off on baby, mommy and kiddie essentials, educational toys, apparel, school supplies and books are just waiting to be discovered. Items from Babyland, Banana Peel, Nurture Nook, Baby Mama, GPG Bulilit Bookstore, Fatty Brain Toys and Rusty Lopez Kids are just some of the treats that are in store for the family.

Being a miniature carnival in itself, jugglers, magicians, and other performers will be around to give the little ones an experience worth remembering. Lulu Nails and Dry bar will be giving free Little Lulu manicures for the kids, and there will also be fun favorite carnival food stands that serve cotton candy, shaved ice and popcorn. Make Your Own Havaianas 2013

I've been out of the Manila scene for years that I have never ever been to a Make Your Own Havaianas event ever. Ever, ever.

I would see MYOH in photos and read about it in the papers and in blogs. My friend Conci is a fanatic. She goes and lines up practically each year. But I'd be like, I love Havaianas but I do not love those lines and I am not a big fan of squeezing into a crowd. I'm happy with my factory-made Havaianas.

But then! My friend Janice aka Mommy Mundo invited me and the rest of the SoMoms to the media  launch yesterday, and that's when I realized what the craziness is all about.

First, there's the limited edition pair that's only available to buy during the MYOH days.

Each year, Make Your Own Havaianas features a commemorative pair that best visualizes the theme for the year. This year’s theme is “Imagination” and it also happens to be the first-ever collaboration with a Filipino Illustrator and Havaianatico, Dan Matutina, who is renowned for his unique visual mix of handmade and digital, clean and dirty, and old and modern aesthetics.’

“Dan Matutina + Havaianas” is the first glow-in-the-dark MYOH commemorative pair with carbon blue sole and shows two spacemen with space markers connecting the stars to form images— representing how Havaianas invites each and everyone to let loose their creativity brought about by their boundless imagination.

Incidentally, when we entered Rockwell Tent, guess what I saw? The Havaianas hot air balloon, with the balloon made entirely out of slippers...

We had walked past it on our way to Serendra and she begged to go back to High Street just so she could have a picture inside it. Cute!

Now back to MYOH. 

The next reason is the energy! OMG. It's so fun! From the time you fill out your MYOH form to the actual moment when the Havaianas kid goes and looks for your soles, strap and pins, its exciting ha.

Then when they start putting in the straps...
